Volume

Floor piece made of plaster/ 2014

A volume is the quantity of space that a substance in a container occupies. In this work, it is the content, that is forming the container while the container itself remains invisible. This fragile object was made by a seemingly simple but complicate process: A big bucket was swiveld out with fluid plaster, then poured out. After that, the bucket was removed, leaving a fragile cast in form of wafer-thin shell with its content flowing out into the emty space. Thus, content and container are forming an inseparable unity.
